The Knotless Knot - Tips And Tricks

One of the most important knots in an anglers armoury.

Tips By Section

What Is The Knotless Knot ?

As its name implies, it is a method of attaching your hook without having to tie a knot whilst producing a hair-rig at the same time. The knotless knot produces a clean, strong hold and also positions the hair rig at the correct angle..

How Do I Tie It ?

One of the reasons this is such a great knot, is its sheer simplicity. Here we will tell you how to tie it from scratch.

What We Used

  • Some High Quality 10lb Line

  • An Eyed Hook Size 10.

You start by sliding the hook onto your line. [Fig 0]

Next, make a small loop in the end of your main line, this will be the hair. [Fig 1]

When making the hair, you should take into consideration the bait you will be using, as a 28 mm halibut pellet will obviously need  a much longer hair than a 10mm boilie.

Now hold the hair down the shank of the hook, and start to wrap the mainline around the hook shank starting at the hook eye. Keep going as far as you can, usually about 8 - 15 turns. [Fig 2]

When you have finished wrapping the line round the shank you need to push the main line back through the eye of the hook as shown . [Fig 3]

Next, pull the main line tight and hey presto. One knotless knot carp hair rig. [Fig 4]
