The Fishing   Rating: Excellent

Lakeview is a great place to catch small and medium sized carp, the main quarry ranges from 3lb to10lb although there a few bigger ones in there (Unconfirmed reports suggest the presence of a carp over 34lb although at the time of writing the fish has not been seen on the bank for several years). The lake also contains a nice of stock of crucian carp, as well as tench, golden tench and the usual silver fish. The first thing you notice when approaching lakeview is the large concrete centre piece on which sits a small tackle shop / bailiff office. The rest of the lake is lined with trees and you will also see some floating reed boxes, these boxes are anchored with chains so it is wise not to cast too close to these as they are prone to floating about quite a bit.

Peg Availability   Rating: Excellent

With well over 40 pegs available, you can normally find yourself a peg with no problem, fishing is also permitted from the concrete island accessible via a bridge. All pegs have a facility for a two man bivvy and are accessed by a comfortable path suitable for trolleys and carp barrows.

Walk To Peg   Rating: Excellent

The walk to the peg can be very short with some pegs within 15 metres of the car park. The path itself only becomes a bit precarious when you walk round past the dam.

  Parking   Rating: Good

Non-Secure on site parking is available, with space for around 15 cars.

Facilities   Rating: Could Be Better

On site facilities are fairly good for a fishery of this size, there is a small on-site tackle shop which carries basic tackle and bait run from the bailiffs office. There is also a toilet available, and for those who have forgotten something important there is a large tackle shop less then 5 minutes away.

Busy   Rating: Very Good

During the week there is always plenty of space, things do get busier at weekends but you can still find a half decent peg.

Find It

Lake View is easy to find. From Junction 10 of the M23, head east for about half a mile until you come to the Copthorne Roundabout (recognisable because the entrance to the Copthorne Hotel is on the roundabout). Almost double back on yourself, past the Copthorne Hotel entrance, and take the A2220 heading south-west. After just a couple of hundred yards, take the road on your left. This is Old Hollow. The entrace to Lake View is on your right hand side, about 3/4 mile down the road, with double gates stating CCTV cameras are in operation.
