Review:
“Linear Fisheries has to be one of the top carp fisheries around, with seven lakes to fish on a day ticket, you have the option to move lakes even when you have already got your ticket. Most of the lakes hold some very big carp but there are also catfish, tench, pike and bream, all of which are of good weights so there are loads to fish for.
For me im after the carp, the lakes I like to fish for them are Oxlease, Brasenose 1 and St Johns. If youre looking for runs then Brasenose 1 along with Brasenose 2 I would say are Linears runs waters, but for the people that are looking for the bigger carp then i would say Oxlease, Hunts, Hardwickssmiths, Manor or St johns would be your best bet in my book.
Thats not to say that the other lakes dont hold some gems. As some of the top carp anglers have fished Linear over the years (Martin Bowler, Matt Hayes, Ian pool) just to name a few, that must say something about the fishery. Take local advice as this will help with what baits or rigs could help you on your quest for that Linear carp.
Also a good start would be to look at their website, (www.linear-fisheries.co.uk) as this will give you the most up to date info about what fish have come out over the past week or so. In the colder months the lakes tend to be quiet, but as with most lakes, as the warmer months start coming so do the people. But dont let this put you off. STOCK LEVELS FROM THEIR WEBSITE: This is a rough stock level: Braesenose 1, around 1,600 carp. Braesenose 2, around 1,150 carp. Hardwickssmiths, around 450 carp. Hunts corner, around 300 carp. Manor farm, around 550 carp. Oxlease, around 1,100 carp. St johns, around 850 carp. As i said, this is only a rough stock level, so i might me out a bit....”
Plus Points:
I like the fact that you can move lakes on just the one ticket.
Could Improve:
The only thing id say is the parking is a bit of a pain sometimes. But other than that nothing else I can think of would improve it as its a well run fishery.
Summary:
My experience on the Linear lakes was good. The swims are big and well spaced, so there is loads of room in your swim in which to fish, without fishing in other peoples water.
